People often ask me why Young Living essential oils are so expensive. My answer: purity!
Other companies put pesticides on their plants to kill weeds, insects and such. Young Living does not. That is why it can cost up to $12,000 an acre for Young Living to produce plants worthy of distilling into essential oils. Other companies will distill with chemicals in order to get more oil out of a distillation, which is basically diluting the oils and making it thinner to make more, cheaper. Young Living does not. They steam distill with water only, or cold press depending on the plant and how it needs to be handled. Other companies do not put in the research to determine if a plant needs to wait after harvest before being distilled to ensure the maximum oil, or if it needs to be distilled immediately upon harvest. Why? because other companies usually are purchasing their plant material from farmers, not farming and harvesting it themselves. Other companies cannot always tell you where the material to distill came from, what was used on it during it's lifetime, if the land was free of toxins, etc. Young Living can answer all these questions an more.
Why does purity matter? Because whatever was used in the soil is leeched into the plant through the roots and water. Whatever was used on the plant, the residue will be in the oil, and whatever chemical is used to distill the plant will be included in the bottle that you buy off the shelf.
I recently looked at the ingredients on a bottle of "off the shelf" oil from Target in their $1 and more section. There were5 ingredients listed. The first ingredient (meaning the largest % amount in the bottle) was olive oil. Next came mineral oil, then fragrance, Tocopheryl Acetate and finally Lavender oil. All those ingredients and yet the "Lavender Oil" as is was packaged as, is the last ingredient on the list! In a bottle of Young Living Lavender oil, there is one ingredient - LAVENDER essential oil. I'm not paying for other ingredients, just the oil with Young Living.
Young living goes above and beyond what is "required" by the government. We are the pioneer and world leader in the essential oil industry, having been around for going on 26 years! Not many essential oil companies can say that. Nor can they say that they own or have farms in 13 countries around the world or that they have oil infused products that are made to FDA approved guidelines!
Purity is the reason I chose Young Living, and Purity is the reason I will stay with Young living. They have proved they are the best. Other companies say "as good as Young Living" - but not one says better than or that they can beat Young Living's standards.
As gatekeeper to my home, I choose what I let in, and I do not want any oil that isn't only essential oil and pure oil at that, in the bottle crossing my threshold.
